Principals' Weekly Update

Dear Families,
We hope you are all well and coping with our first wintry blast. We have reminded the children to bring a spray jacket or a raincoat in their bags each day. Something that's easy to roll up and take on and off as we experience an increase in showers and windy conditions.
HAPPY CAMPERS AT THE SUMMIT!
Our 5/6 cohort together with Connie, Sam, Katie, Gracie and Gemma left on the 2 buses yesterday morning at 9.00am to The Summit Camp in Trafalgar East, Gippsland for a 3-day adventure camp. The children were so excited and eager to be taken out of their comfort zone on challenges like the flying fox; giant swing; abseiling and rock climbing; plus, a campfire, a movie night and sleeping in cabins with six of their best friends!
It was lovely to see our parent community waving the children goodbye on the buses, it was hard to tell who was more excited! No doubt parents of the 5/6 cohort would have enjoyed seeing the photos on the Padlet that the teachers have set up and seen the wonderful activities the children are all participating in.
We are very grateful to Allira and Katie who have organised the camp as well as Connie, Sam, Gemma and Gracie to be happy to attend and leave their own families for 2 nights.
Just as well we are heading into a long weekend so our teachers can catch up on their sleep!
LONG WEEKEND PUBLIC HOLIDAY Monday 8 June and CURRICULUM DAY on Tuesday 9 June (no school for the children)
A reminder to all of our parents/carers there is no school for the children on Monday due to the King's Birthday public holiday and also on Tuesday as we have a School Council approved Curriculum Day. Team Kids is running a program for our children so please book with them if you need care for the children.
Upcoming Art Show Reminder
A reminder to families that our Art Show will be held on Wednesday 10 June in the MPC from 3:00pm – 4:45pm.
We warmly invite families to make time to stroll through our gallery and celebrate the incredible artistic achievements of our students. This special event is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the creativity and talent within our school community.
We look forward to sharing this exciting afternoon with you.
APS House Colours Soccer Tournament
Our House Captains are excited to be planning a special community-building event for the last Thursday of Term 2 - the APS House Colours Soccer Tournament!
The tournament will feature a round robin-style structure, with all children encouraged to participate in a series of short 6-minute games to proudly represent their house. The aim of the event is to promote teamwork, house spirit and plenty of fun as children come together in friendly competition.
Further details will be shared closer to the event, but in the meantime, families are encouraged to find out which house their child belongs to, as children will be asked to wear their house colours on the day:
- Densham – Blue
- Rose – Red
- Munro – Green
- Northcote – Yellow
We look forward to seeing a sea of house colours and a wonderful display of community spirit!
