Welcome Miss Gale!

Last week we welcome Miss Gale into our classroom for her final placement. She has begun taking on some teaching load within the classroom and the students are very excited.

Literacy

We have finished a mini unit on ANZAC Ted. We learnt about the unrecognises heroes of the war. Students worked on their understanding of adjectives and description, in which we used to help visualise different images. We compared New ANZAC Ted and Old ANZAC Ted.

This week, we begin our new mentor text, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We will spend some time looking at the characters and settings, before moving into persuasive writing. There is a lot of excitement around our next mentor text, and we look forward to seeing some new writing skills develop.

Numeracy

We are exploring measurement this fortnight, looking at length, mass and capacity. Students have emjoyed lots of hands on learning using both formal and informal units of measurement. We have explored the different real life contexts for using each form of measurement, and made many predictions when comparing of different objects. We discovered that just because something was larger, it didn't always mean that it was heavier, or could hold more liquid.
