Mrs Dallas, Miss Gale, Miss Jenni and Miss Haddrick

Welcome to Term 2! 🥳

It's great to be back and see everyone's lovely, smiling faces greeting us at the door every morning! We hope the term break was restful for all of the grownups and you were able to enjoy some down time with your loved ones.

This term is a busy term - as they all are! Teachers are gearing up to consolidate learning from Term 1 in preparation for writing Semester 1 school reports. If you haven't had a chance to catch up with Mrs Dallas for a parent teacher interview, please reach out and we will book a time in ASAP!

What are we learning about this term?

I'm so glad you asked! Across the term, we will be looking at the following concepts in Literacy and Mathematics -

  • Developing our phonic knowledge to be able to read longer, more complex words - especially words with consonant blends at the start: spl-, str-, scr-, shr- and squ-
  • Using coordinating and subordinating conjunctions to create compound and complex sentences in our writing
  • The role of punctuation in developing our understanding of sentence meanings and types
  • Exploring text purposes and deciding if a text is to entertain, to inform or to persuade
  • Equal and not equal parts of whole objects and also small collections of objects
  • Creating halves, quarters and eights by repeated halving of objects and collections
  • Exploring equivalence and comparing numbers and fractions of objects

Robot Buddies 🤖

This term, our Integrated Studies unit is on 'Robot Buddies' and learning about how robots help us solve problems in our daily lives.

We will be having an exhibition to display and talk about our robot buddies later this term. Stay tuned for a date and time to come along and visit our robot showroom!

If you have any boxes or plastic containers that you could donate to our class for this project, these would be most welcome! Anything along the lines of:

  • cereal boxes
  • small packet boxes
  • clean, washed milk bottles
  • clean, washed yoghurt containers
  • the inside roll of cling film or foil rolls
  • the ends of any yarn balls
  • larger scraps of unused fabric
  • unused craft items you would be willing to donate

Thank you so much if you are able to support this!
