Jordan Byron Presentation

Film Maker Extraordinaire

On Wednesday 22nd October NHS students were privileged to have Jordan Bryon, Film maker extraordinaire, address Year 8, 9, and 10. Jordan is an alumni of NHS and NPS who travels the world telling his stories through documentaries.

Jordan’s work has taken him to some incredible places and earned him major recognition, including two BAFTAs, two Emmy’s, and a Human Rights Press Award. He has made films like Children of the Taliban, Battle Dogs, and In Her Hands, giving a voice to people and communities whose stories often go unheard.

But Jordan’s journey hasn’t been all smooth sailing. While he was at school, he faced awful bullying. Instead of letting it stop him, he used those experiences to fuel his creativity, resilience, and empathy — qualities that shine through in all his films.

Jordan shared his stories, his adventures, and the lessons he’s learned along the way — and I think all would agree he was an engaging and knowledgeable speaker. He spoke about life in Afghanistan before, and after, the Taliban took over. Our students soon realised that we are lucky to live in Australia and lucky to receive an education.
