Mazenod Junior and Senior Tennis Championships

The Mazenod Tennis Championships concluded in fantastic fashion, with the Junior and Senior semi-finals and finals showcasing skill, determination and sportsmanship from all competitors.

The Senior semi-finals featured R. Lack Moran, C. Dudfield, C. Killeen and R. Abeleria, with each match played at a high standard and with great intensity. After two closely contested semi-finals, the championship match saw R. Lack Moran face R. Abeleria in an exciting final. Both players demonstrated excellent shot selection, composure and resilience in long rallies, entertaining spectators with quality tennis throughout. In the end, R. Lack Moran proved too strong, claiming the Senior Tennis Championship for 2026. Congratulations to all four semi-finalists on their impressive performances.

In the Junior division, H. Mullan, C. Millsteed, P. Brouwer and A. Latham competed in tightly fought semi-finals to earn their place in the concluding matches. The final between H. Mullan and P. Brouwer was a terrific contest, with both students displaying excellent technique and determination. H. Mullan emerged victorious to be crowned the 2026 Junior Tennis Champion.

 

All students who participated in this year’s championships are to be commended for their effort, commitment and exemplary sportsmanship. The tournament was a wonderful display of competitive spirit and respect, reflecting the strong tennis culture at Mazenod College.


Congratulations Neilson!

Congratulations to Neilson S. on his outstanding achievements at the 2026 WA State Junior Athletics Championships, held at the Athletics West Stadium last weekend.

Neilson delivered an exceptional performance, earning:

 

  • Gold Medal – Under 14 Men’s Discus (44.75m)
  • Gold Medal – Under 14 Men’s Hammer Throw (41m)

 

These impressive results are a testament to his dedication, skill and commitment to athletics. Well done Neilson!


ACC Swimming Team 

ACC Swimming training will not take place on Wednesday, 11 March due to the St Brigid’s Swimming Meet on Thursday, 12 March.

 

All members of the team are expected to attend this meet. If you are unable to attend, please let Mr Mallon or Mr Mason know.

 

There will be a team meeting regarding the St Brigid’s Swim Meet next week.


Tennis Training 

Students who are interested are invited to attend free tennis training sessions on Monday mornings. Sessions will begin at 7:15am and conclude at 8:15am.

 

These sessions are designed for students of all skill levels and tennis abilities and will be coached by a local tennis coach.

Mouthguard Forms

The College is offering professionally fitted mouthguards that can be done at the College. The fittings will happen during lunchtime and can be collected by the students at the College before the holidays.

 

The mouthguard form, with information regarding fittings and cost, can be collected from the Oblate Hall noticeboard. If you are interested, please fill in the Mouthguard form and return to Chris Mason at the College via email or have your son/s drop off to Mr Mason in the PE office.
