Year 10 – Construction Industry Pathways

Year 10 students recently participated in a MyPath Careers session where representatives from the Construction Training Fund visited Mazenod to speak about the wide range of career opportunities within the construction industry.

Students were introduced to:

  • Different career pathways within the construction industry.

  • Apprenticeship and training opportunities.

  • The range of trades and professional roles available in the sector.

  • Future employment opportunities within Western Australia’s growing construction industry.

The session helped students see the variety of careers that exist within construction beyond traditional trades, including roles in project management, engineering, site supervision, surveying and construction management.

These guest presentations form an important part of the Year 10 career program as they help students connect classroom learning with real-world industries and employment opportunities.

Year 11 – Upcoming University Presentations

Year 11 students will shortly begin attending university presentations as part of the Careers program.

Next week, representatives from Murdoch University and The University of Western Australia (UWA) will be visiting Mazenod to speak with Year 11 students about university study, course options and pathway opportunities.

These presentations help students gain a clearer understanding of university study and begin thinking about potential pathways after Year 12.

Year 12 – Individual Pathway Planning and Career Counselling

The Careers team has been actively meeting with Year 12 students for individual career counselling and pathway planning sessions.

These meetings focus on helping students:

• Clarify their intended post-school pathway.

• Understand university entry requirements and application processes.

• Identify key deadlines and milestones for 2026.

• Develop a clear plan for their transition beyond school.

These individual meetings are continuing throughout the term as students begin preparing for university applications and other post-school pathways.

TISC Update

Many Year 12s have been asking about university early offers and the TISC application process, which will form an important part of the pathway planning discussions throughout the year.

To support students with this process, representatives from TISC (Tertiary Institutions Service Centre) will be visiting Mazenod early in Term 2 to explain how the application system works, including how to list course preferences and understand the offer rounds.

These sessions help students gain a clear understanding of the university application process before applications open later in the year.
