School Captains' Address

Dear JMSS Community,

Term 1 has been an incredible start to the year, filled with exciting events and great energy. 

Student-led clubs kicked off with a bang, drawing plenty of interest at the Club Expo. With over 18 clubs running this year, there was something for everyone, and the turnout was fantastic—so many students came to explore and signed up! 

The Year 12 Formal more than lived up to the hype. Held on Wednesday, the 26th of March, at Merrimu Reception, it was an unforgettable night. A huge thank you to the Year 12 Formal Committee—your hard work truly paid off! The music, decorations and awards were highlights of the night, and it certainly wouldn’t have been as amazing without all your work. Another thank you to all of the teachers who came and shared this night with us, we hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did. 

To celebrate International Women's Day, we hosted a special breakfast on Thursday, the 20th of March. It was amazing to see so many people come together to share a meal and insightful conversation. A massive thank you to Ms. Grainger, Ms. Adolph, Ms. Ayoubi, and Dr. Hale for sharing their experiences as women in STEM—you inspired everyone in the room. We would also like to thank all of the other teachers who attended, as well as the students who supported the morning and brought in food. 

We can’t wait to see you all back next term, with even more exciting events to come, including the World’s Greatest Shave on May 30th.
