Let's Celebrate at MEPS

Chess Tournaments
Last week was a busy week in Chess! On Monday 20th October, Evie from Year 5 represented MEPS at the Girls' State Final Chess Tournament in Box Hill. On Wednesday 22nd October, the boys had the open semi-finals Chess Tournament at Karingal Primary School. Francis and Baki from Year 6, and Archie from Year 5 all competed in the event. They played exceptionally well representing MEPS, and came 9th overall out of 26 schools. Special congratulations to Francis who came 4th on the day out of more than 100 contestants!
Hi, my name is Evie and I was lucky enough to go to the State all girls chess tournament in Box Hill on Monday the 20th October. It was very challenging and I had 7 rounds to get through with schools from everywhere in Victoria. In the end I ended up with only 2 wins but still thought that it was still great even getting there. I had heaps of fun and can't wait to do something like that again. I ended up being the only Mt Eliza Primary student there and out of all 38 schools I got our school not in last place, so I felt quite proud for that. I would like to say thanks to Mrs Coley for organising the chess tournament. Without her I would not have made it to the State all girls tournament.😊
