5/6 Winter Sport Gala Days

Our year 5/6 students have just participated in the 2 Interschool Sport Winter Gala Days.  They have spent weeks practicing in their teams in the lead up to these 2 days.  11 teams in 4 sports represented SJV with great determination, skill, enthusiasm and sportsmanship.  We sent 3 soccer teams, 5 netball teams, 2 softball teams and an AFL team to play in a round robin style of event where the winning team in each sport would progress to the Division level of competition.   As always, the competition was tough but after the first day of matches, SJV had 3 of our teams in great positions  - our Netball A, Soccer A and boys Softball were all undefeated going into the second day of matches.  

All of our students played every match with excellent spirit and a positive attitude and by the end of the 2 days we had 1 victorious team!  Our boys softball team remained unbeaten and won through to Division (date TBA).  Other notable achievments were our Netball A team finishing 2nd, and our AFL team winning their first match in over 2 years!  

We are so grateful to have had parent helpers as coaches this term - Danielle T (Netball) and Rich B (AFL) have made such a valuable contribution to our students by coaching at practice sessions and by being coaches on the 2 Gala Days.  Our students are so lucky to have your expertise for these events.   Thank you for all of your help this term!
