DonateLife Week

DonateLife Week started on Sunday 26 July and runs until Sunday 2 August 2026.

It is a public awareness week encouraging more Australians to support organ and tissue donation.

Anyone in Australia aged 16 and over can register on the Australian Organ Donor Register to be an organ and tissue donor. It only takes one minute to register.

Organ and tissue donation can save and change the lives of people who, in many cases, are seriously ill or dying. To read stories of people who have received donations, refer to Donation stories on the DonateLife website.

Book Week Celebrations

Grandparents Morning

As part of our Book Week celebrations, we are delighted to invite grandparents to attend our annual Grandparents' Morning on Monday 24 August 2026.

Grandparents are invited to participate in fun activities with their grandchildren in classrooms from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. During this time, families are also welcome to visit the Book Fair and explore other areas of the school, including the farm and the Cavill Centre.

The canteen will be open throughout the morning, with food and drinks available for purchase. Both cash and EFTPOS payments will be accepted.

Book Week Parade

Our annual Book Week Parade will be held on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 9:05 am in the EMC Basketball Stadium.

Students are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character and join in the parade. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed students on the day, and teachers will also be joining in the fun by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend and support this special event.

Book Fair

The Book Fair will open on Monday 24 August during Grandparents Morning.

Opening hours:

  • Before school (8:30 am – 8:45 am): Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • After school (3:20 pm – 4:00 pm): Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Please note that cash payments will not be accepted at the Book Fair. EFTPOS facilities will be available.

COMPASS

As of the start of Term 3, all events will be on COMPASS rather than QKR.

As events are opened for your students, you will receive an email to advise of the event, with a link that will take you directly to the event to action.

Hot noodle water at school

Students are more than welcome to bring pre-cooked 2 minute noodles in a thermos to school for lunch.

However, do not send any boiling water into the classrooms as this poses an OHS hazard.

Alternatively, you can buy 2 minute noodles from the canteen.

Family Holiday Reminder

The Department of Education expects that students do not have time away during the school term as absence directly impacts their learning. We do understand that on unexpected occasions, family circumstances do require travel during the term. We understand that spending time with family is important, however we ask that you try to schedule this in the school holidays to ensure your child’s learning and development is not impacted.

If you do have to take leave during the school term for a family holiday, we request that you:

1) Email the school to seek permission from the school principal to attend the holiday and have the absence recorded as an ‘Extended Family Holiday - School Approved’.

2) Discuss with the class teacher if a student absence learning plan is required

Please note: Family Holiday Leave during the school term is a counted absence and will be recorded on the student's enrolment record and semester reports.
