Year Six Leading the Way

It's been another busy and engaging couple of weeks in Year 6! In Mathematics, students have been developing their understanding of angles by identifying, measuring and comparing different types of angles, while applying their knowledge to solve practical problems.
In Religious Education, students have been learning about the life and legacy of Saint Mary MacKillop, exploring her faith, perseverance and commitment to serving others, and reflecting on how they can live out these values in their own lives.
In Writing, our focus has been on the key parts of a narrative, with students learning how to craft engaging introductions, build tension, develop exciting climaxes and write satisfying resolutions.

Girls' AFL 9s
On Tuesday the 28th of July we played against three schools, Loreto, Elsternwick and St Joan of Arc. We were excited to represent St Peter’s and give our best effort in every game. Each game was challenging. We won the first game against St Joan of Arc, we were feeling hopeful but unfortunately we lost the next two games, against Loreto and Elsternwick. St Peter’s came 3rd overall in the competition.
We would like to say a big thank you to Gabby for coaching us and Ms Davies for helping out through the day and a big thank you to Mr Cavarra for planning it all.

Boys' AFL 9s
During Term 2 in interschool sports we played AFL 9s and won every game! During the finals we played a round robin of matches where we were undefeated going into the grand final against Coatesville. We knew it would be a tough game but we scored in the last minutes and became the winners.
On Friday last week, we then played in the Beachside District competition against all of the other winners from other schools. We started strong by playing well and beating Our Lady of Lords by 80 odd points but losing the rest of our games. This meant that sadly came third overall.
A big thanks to Mr Cav for organising everything and for Gabby to being our coach during the season and Sophie for coaching us last week!

Digital Citizenship Commercial
Throughout Semester 1, our Year 6 students have been exploring the important topic of Digital Citizenship in Digital Technologies. They’ve investigated what it means to be a responsible digital citizen, examined the lasting impact of digital footprints, discussed the serious issue of cyberbullying and focused closely on how to stay safe online.
As part of their learning, students were challenged to create an informative yet engaging commercial aimed at school students. The results were outstanding. Every Year 6 student approached the task with creativity and care and there were many standout commercials. Special mention goes to Ollie Walker, Jimi Hatzoglou and Anaya Tisseverasinghe for their excellent work.
After careful consideration and a very close call, our judging panel has selected a winner.
Congratulations to Annalise Baratta from 6SH!
Please enjoy Annalise’s winning commercial.
