Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

100 Days at School!

Some of the most very important people at Miners Rest Primary School will be celebrating 100 days at school this week. Our Foundation children, along with their incredibly dedicated and passionate teachers, as well as their extremely committed Education Support Staff that work with the children will be celebrating their growth and achievement in their time so far at school. Congratulations, Foundie Team!

Public Bus Travel

This is important information for families of students who travel to and from school on the public bus. Recently, we have received reports of concerning behaviour of some of our students on the bus, including disrespectful language, inappropriate physical interactions between students, and swearing. These behaviours have been witnessed by members of the public, as well as other students from our school, and do not reflect the high standards we expect of our students.

As the bus is a public service, there is no school supervision while students are travelling. This means it is especially important that students make positive choices and demonstrate personal responsibility throughout their journey, for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others.

While travelling in school uniform, our students represent Miners Rest Primary School and are ambassadors for our school community. We expect all students to uphold our school values of Kindness, Respect and Courage, treating others with courtesy, speaking appropriately, and ensuring everyone feels safe and respected.

If you are a parent of a student using public transport to and/or from school, I would appreciate your support in discussing these expectations with your child and reinforcing the importance of respectful behaviour whenever they are travelling to and from school.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in helping our students make positive choices and represent our school with pride.

With great appreciation for the ongoing partnerships we proudly share with our families,

Kylie Nissen.
