Student Bus Pass Reminder 

Kangaroo (Brisbane) Bus Lines has advised that some Marist College students are travelling on fare-paying school bus services using their Marist College student ID card and not the required bus pass. 

It is important to note that Marist College student ID cards are valid only for use on the College MCA 1 and MCA 2 bus services and cannot be used on any other Kangaroo (Brisbane) Bus Lines’ fare-paying buses. 

Students who travel on a fare-paying Kangaroo (Brisbane) Bus Lines service must hold an approved bus pass. Families are asked to arrange the appropriate pass within the next seven days to allow time for processing. 

Families can apply for this bus pass online through the Queensland School Transport Assistance Scheme (STAS) or complete the Bus Travel Assistance Application form by clicking this link Registering for a Bus Pass - Brisbane Bus Lines and returning the completed form by email to schools@brisbanebuslines.com.au. 

Following a short transition period, students travelling on fare-paying services without a valid bus pass may be unable to travel until the correct bus pass has been arranged. Kangaroo (Brisbane) Bus Lines will also visit the College this week to assist students and check that the correct bus pass is being used by students.

Marist Parent Lecture Series 

Parents and caregivers are reminded that the next session in the Marist Parent Lecture Series will be held on Wednesday 29 July. 

This valuable series provides families with the opportunity to hear from experienced presenters on topics relevant to parenting and supporting young people as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of adolescence. The sessions are designed to strengthen the partnership between home and school while equipping parents with practical strategies to support their sons' wellbeing, growth and development. 

We encourage all parents and caregivers to take advantage of this opportunity to connect, learn and engage with topics that are highly relevant to today’s families.

Year 9 Wellbeing Day - Thursday 6 August

All year 9 students will have a whole wellbeing presentation workshop style day on Thursday August 6 in the Cyprian building. Our Guest speaker Daniel Principe will present important cultural information and challenge the boys to think maturely, act courageously and connect positively with their communities. 

About Daniel Principe: Daniel is a passionate youth advocate and educator. He champions boys across Australia to challenge culture and aspire to live courageous, respectful and empathetic lives. Daniel is a board member of the DART Institute, an ambassador for the Women’s Resilience Centre and an ambassador for the national campaign Consent Can’t Wait. He was recently a nominee for the 2025 NSW Australian of the Year. Daniel is a regular guest on TV, radio and podcasts to discuss healthy masculinity, consent, respectful relationships and the cultural challenges young people are facing. None of these evolving challenges sway Daniel’s confidence that all young people can flourish if we create spaces for them to be their best selves.

Year 8 Pastoral Days - Tuesday 4 August and Wednesday 5 August

All year 8 students will be involved in our pastoral days next Tuesday (Ridley, Ephrem, Foley and Gilroy houses) and Wednesday (Harold, Ignatius, Rush and Slattery houses) off site with our partner organisation "Character Builders". Students will work in team and be put through some group challenges to foster greater connections, improved communication and problem solving. Please ensure students have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen (raincoat if wet) and meet at the grandstand on their allocated day by 8:10am.
