From Your P&F

Hi Parents and Carers,

Walkathon 2026

Walkathon 2026 is nearly here, and we still need helping hands to make the day a success.

Volunteers Needed!

The Walkathon is the largest event on the P&F calendar and our premier fundraising and community activity. Held this year on Sunday 9 August 2026, the Walkathon is a much-loved Marist tradition that brings together students, families and staff for a fantastic day of fun, community spirit and fundraising.

The ongoing success of the Walkathon has always been made possible by the generosity and commitment of our parent volunteers. We still need more volunteers to sign up as soon as possible so we can finalise roles, rosters and support arrangements for the day.

Please sign up now if you can help. There are many roles to choose from and all help is appreciated. Whether you can assist for a short period, take on a specific task, or help throughout the day, every contribution makes a meaningful difference.

As with all P&F initiatives, the Walkathon's success depends on the support and involvement of our parent community. If you have been considering becoming involved with the P&F, this is the perfect opportunity to get started. Many hands make light work, and every volunteer helps create a memorable experience for our boys and families.

For parents who are currently serving members of the Australian Defence Force or the Queensland Police Service (QPS), there are volunteer opportunities available within the Barracks precinct on the day of the Walkathon. Volunteers for these roles must hold a current DCAC/ID Card. If you are interested in assisting, please contact Jon Pollard directly at jon.pollard@defence.gov.au.

We look forward to welcoming both new and returning volunteers and working together to make Walkathon 2026 another memorable and successful day for the Marist community.

  • Please drop the meal off to Tower Reception between 8:00am and 3:00pm.
  • Please label the meal with the appropriate details including the family it’s for.
  • All the details are in the Mealtrain links. If you click on the appropriate link (or copy and paste it), you can sign up to help out - choose a night to make a meal - and find any further information that you might need.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!!! The meals make a huge difference to our families taking some pressure off the nighttime juggle.

🔸🔹CALL FOR DONATIONS🔹🔸

Marist Family Support was set up to provide assistance to families and students in our school community who are doing it tough or facing extraordinary challenges. Run by parents, it is a way for us to connect, support and make a change for those around us … in the Marist tradition of Presence, Family Spirit and In The Way of Mary. Support can take many forms and over the years we have organised meal trains, gift cards, household maintenance, flood relief and monitor card top ups.

Our last call out for monetary donations was 18 months ago. In that time, we have made those funds stretch but we are now again putting a call out for our community to generously donate to Marist Family Support.

Thank you so much to the members in our community who have donated, and made meals for our families, so far this year.

Your donations make a big difference to our families, particularly helping students to have the same experience at Marist as their peers and not feel different or excluded due to their circumstances. And, for example, an allocation of these donated funds to a student’s Tuckshop card can help ease the burden of the morning rush in a household that is struggling and give a family some much needed breathing space.

To ensure probity, the funds are donated via a Monitor link - https://bit.ly/MCA-fundraising and held by the school. It is also a permanent listing in the Monitor system (via the Parent Portal) in both the student and supporter shops under "fundraising".... parents can simply go to the tuckshop monitor link as usual and find it in the online purchases. All money donated is used to help families in our community.

Kind Regards

Jane, Cassandra & Angela
