Years 1 and 2 have had a wonderful start to Term 2. Everyone has returned eager for more learning. We have been creating persuasive texts in writing trying to convince the reader that we should or should not have sport every day at school or that we should or should not have dessert after every meal. We have had strong arguments for both sides.
In maths we started with the unit of addition and are currently studying data. It is always a fun unit because everyone gets to express their likes and dislikes during the question part of collecting the data. We've had some very exciting voting times.

In Science we have been looking at how and why food goes rotten. We cut apples into quarters and put one into a cup of water, one into a cup of water and honey, and one was left alone. It was interesting to see what happened to each apple and why. We then recorded what we observed by drawing it.

Even though Easter was in the holidays we have continued to discuss the Easter story in Religion lessons. We have performed skits, heard stories and captured the events in a sequencing activity.

In sport, we have been training for netball, participating in catching and passing drills. The students attending the swimming lessons have come a long way from some not being able to put their head under the water, or not being able to perform the freestyle stroke to attempting to complete a lap of freestyle.

It was impressive to see how much each student knew about their family tree during history. They all knew which side of the tree to place their grandparents’ names and their correct titles.
At home, please continue to read each night and bring in your reading records for your house points.
