Japanese 

Students will learn words for communicating about the weather. This will include describing the weather and responding to questions about the weather.  Japanese sentence patterns will be used, such as “Today is sunny.”  We will utilise flashcards and slide shows to support our learning. Students will also interact with each other in communication games and songs which mimic authentic pronunciation of Japanese. Students will explore hiragana characters used to read and write words for the weather in Japanese.

Digital Technologies 

 This term, our Year 1 and 2 students have stepped into the role of software engineers by learning to code using Scratch Junior. Students are exploring how to create their own animated stories and games by building algorithms—sequences of instructions that tell their characters how to move, speak, and interact. Their problem-solving skills will flourish as they learn to "debug" their code and bring their creative ideas to life on the screen.

Art

Physical Education 

The focus for Physical Education lessons in Junior school is around developing the gross motor "tools" needed to play games. At this age, "Invasion" is mostly about learning to move through space without bumping into others and keeping control of an object. 

The P.E lessons in Grade 1& 2 this term are as follows: 

• Week 1-3: Space & Body Control. Focus on changing direction, stopping on a whistle, and "bubble space."
• Week 4-6: Object Control. Introduction to dribbling (feet/hands) and underarm throwing to a target.
• Week 7-10: Intro to Tagging. Simple games like "Stuck in the Mud" or "Cat and Mouse" to practice dodging.
