Mathematics

This term in Mathematics, students will continue to strengthen their number skills and build confidence working with larger numbers. They will explore place value up to 1000, learning to represent, order and expand numbers in different ways. Students will focus on addition and subtraction, developing a range of strategies such as regrouping, number lines and mental computation. They will also deepen their understanding of number facts to 20 and explore the relationship between addition and subtraction through fact families.
In algebra, students will investigate patterns that increase or decrease by a constant amount and identify missing elements. Students will also be introduced to money, using skip counting to calculate totals and solve real life problems.
Throughout the term, students will apply their skills to solve word problems and explain their thinking, using hands-on and engaging learning experiences to support their understanding.
