Places and Our Connections to Them: Our Important Places

In our Inquiry unit Places and Our Connections to Them: Our Important Places, students will explore the world around them by learning what makes places special and how people are connected to them. They will identify and describe natural features (such as rivers, trees and weather) and constructed features (such as buildings, roads and playgrounds), and learn how places can change over time and be cared for.

Students will investigate weather and seasons, including learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ seasonal calendars, and begin to understand how Australia is represented on maps, including its states, territories and important places. Through asking questions, observing, collecting and recording information, students will represent their ideas in different ways and share their thinking.
