Tennis

On Monday 16th February BHS entered 2 teams (Senior Girls & Intermediate Boys) into the SSV Eureka Senior & Intermediate Tennis competition at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre. The weather was fantastic for tennis making an enjoyable day for all involved.

The Senior Girls had one single match against Mount Clear College. It was a very close affair which went down to the wire in the last doubles match to determine the winner. The BHS girls held on to win the match 3 sets-23 games to 3-20. The BHS Senior Girls were crowned Eureka Champions for 2026.

The Intermediate Boys found themselves in a Pool Play competition alongside 5 other schools. They drew Pool A alongside Phoenix Secondary College B (6-24 to 0-5) and Daylesford Secondary College (4-20 to 2-16). Daylesford Secondary College B, Phoenix Secondary College A and Beaufort made up Pool B. 2 wins out of 2 in the Pool Play qualified the team for the Semi Finals against the Daylesford Secondary College B team, who they quickly brushed aside by winning 5-22 to 1-8 booking a place in the Grand Final. The Grand Final was a rematch against the Daylesford Secondary College A team and it was a much closer match than the Pool Play earlier in the competition. With both teams winning 3 sets apiece it came down to total games won…BHS 19 to Daylesford’s 17 to narrowly squeeze through as the victors! (3-19 to 3-17). A double win for Ballarat High School on the day.

The Senior Girls and Intermediate Boys teams have now qualified for the SSV GWR Senior & Intermediate Tennis competition on Wednesday 4th March at the Ballarat Regional Athletics Centre.
