Making Butter

This term, our inquiry focus has been 'Raw to Ready'. The children have learned about where many different foods come from such as apples, honey, milk, bread and rice. Last week, we put our learning into action and made butter. We used two different methods, the first, putting cream into a jar and shaking it, the second, using a kitchen mixer. The children had a lot of fun shaking the jar to make butter!

Making Fairy Bread

We also learned about giving and following instructions.  It is really important to make sure all the steps are included and that they are in the correct order.

Growing Parsley

The children were excited to see their parsley seeds sprout! They have now taken home their pots to care for and wait until it has grown large enough to eat.

Michelle and Cicil

We have been so lucky this week to have Michelle and Cicil, former students of St Francis Xavier, join us on their work experience placement. They have read to the class, listened to children read, been a part of our literacy groups and maths groups. The children particularly enjoyed playing 'shops', time bingo and 4 digit mastermind with Michelle and Cicil.

Stars of the Week

Last week, Remy shared with us about his love of football, and his team, the Frankston Rovers. He also showed us his special collection of Pokemon cards, that he has been collecting for a few years.

This week Anaha showed us some of her favourite unicorn teddies, a special top from her trip to Kuwait and her art set and some drawings. She also brought in a book to read with the class. It was very funny and the class loved it.
