Prep

This term has been filled with a wide range of engaging learning experiences across all areas. Our Prep students are continuing to build their learning stamina and are working well with their peers in small groups. They have also been focusing on demonstrating kindness through their words and actions towards one another, helping to build a positive and supportive classroom environment.

We’re getting closer to our exciting 100 Days of Prep celebration, which will take place early in Term 3. All the details can be found on Seesaw.

Wishing you a safe and restful holiday!

Literacy

In literacy, students are writing simple captions using familiar tricky words and letter sounds. This week, they were introduced to Hannah Hippo, who is linked to the sound /h/ and the letter 'h'. The Preps are practising to write the letter and simple words containing the focus letter/sound.

Maths

The Preps compared and ordered numerals and collections to 20. Working in pairs, they ordered the filled ten-framed numbers from the smallest to the largest. They were encouraged to use the language smaller, larger, more and less when describing the number to their partner.

They have also been finding the parts to make the target whole numbers to 10. These games and activities are building their fluency and reviewing previously taught maths concepts.

Inquiry

The Preps explored and discussed the basic needs of living creatures. Working in pairs, they chose a pet. They drew a picture of their pet and the basic needs of that particular animal. Each group presented their pet and explained the needs of the animals.

Prep Mass

On Tuesday morning, the Prep students participated in the parish mass. They sang the opening song, read the Prayers of Intercession and took the Offertory Gifts to Fr. Jude. The students were respectful and reverent throughout the service. Thank you to the families who attended church and to all the students for singing 'God Is Everywhere' so beautifully.
