Kia Ora Friends - Our Warmest Greetings
This week we had the honour and privilege of welcoming the principal and staff of Apii Vaitau school in Aitutaki to Western Heights.
Our school performed a wonderful Powhiri Whakatau for them - you can see the video of this below.
We put on a pretty awesome morning tea (special thanks to Julie and Kathryn from our Tuck Shop) for our visitors.
They sang for us as thanks.
Below, you can also watch a video of a little boy named Areri. He is only six years old, but he is already a Master Drummer, as you will see from the video.
I came across Areri drumming on a chair in their meeting space. His friends then fetched a Kuki Airani Drum for him to play. In the final part of the video, we see Areri drumming at the combined Aitutaki Schools performance during the island's 60th anniversary celebration of independence.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about anything school-related, email me at macash@mac.com, and I will get back to you asap.
My very best regards to you all,
Ash Maindonald
Principal.
