School Wide Positive Behaviour Support
Father's Day Stall
Year 7 Science
Year 7 students have been learning about soil health and they had a fun exercise passing a drop of water between nasturtium leaves. This is possible because nasturtium leaves are hydrophobic and the water travels easily across the leaves.
Book Week
A huge thank you goes out to our incredible Instrumental Music teacher, Roger Manderson!
Roger was our inspiration for all the events and displays that took place throughout this fantastic week and without his support, none of it would have been possible.
He very generously put in hours of his own time bringing our “Live in the Library” events to life, and for most of our student performers, this was their first time performing in front of others.
Without his knowledge, encouragement, support and creative spark, these student might never have thought it possible to get up in front of others and perform, let alone have learnt to play an instrument!
Thank you for everything you do!
VM Students Celebrate Book Week
Our VM students celebrated Book Week by reading with our primary students. It was a great opportunity to build confidence, encourage a love of reading and strengthen connections across our school community.
Victorian Schools Merino Wool Challenge
We attended the Victorian Schools Merino Wool Challenge on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 August.
On behalf of Seymour College, I would like to sincerely thank Reid Stockfeeds for their generous support of our school team participating in the Victorian Schools Merino Wether Challenge. The Challenge has been an invaluable learning experience for our students, providing them with the opportunity to develop practical skills in sheep husbandry, animal nutrition, wool production, handling, and assessment. Importantly, it allows students to connect their classroom learning with the realities of a commercial agricultural enterprise and to engage directly with the wider sheep and wool industry.
We were particularly proud of our students’ achievements this year, with Seymour College placing third in the Fleece category with the third highest wool value. This was a wonderful result and recognition of the work our students have put into caring for and managing their Merino wethers throughout the program.
Opportunities such as the Victorian Schools Merino Wether Challenge would not be possible without the significant support of agricultural businesses such as Reid Stockfeeds. Their contribution helped us provide authentic, hands-on agricultural education and demonstrates to our students that industry values and supports the next generation entering agriculture.
Building strong connections between schools and industry is particularly important as we encourage more young people to consider careers across agriculture, food and fibre production. Reid Stockfeeds support of both feed and a nutrition workshop has contributed directly to creating that connection for our students.
On Tuesday and we were interviewed by Warwick Long from 97.7fm for the ABC Country Hour. Both Austin and Alexis did a phenomenal job speaking and represented themselves and our school so well.

Year 8 Students Celebrate National Tree Day!
🌳Year 8 Students Celebrate National Tree Day🌳
Our Year 8 Agriculture students have been getting their hands dirty for National Tree Day, planting native trees and shrubs around Seymour College.
These plants will help create valuable habitat and food sources for important pollinators, including native bees, insects and birds, while increasing biodiversity and creating greener spaces around our school.
The plants were kindly provided by Mitchell Shire. It’s a great opportunity for students to see how small actions can make a lasting difference to our local environment.
Plant today, grow tomorrow.
Term 3 Round Robin
Our Intermediate Boys Basketball team enjoyed their day in Euroa on Monday 24 August as part of the Round Robin.
Technology Workshops
Students in Year 7 and one Year 8 class participated in Technology workshops on Tuesday 1 September run by the RMIT STEM Outreach program. Students used Ozbots, Thermal Cameras and Cubelets in an aim to introduce them to colour coding, thermal imaging and modular robotics.
Attendance Competition
We are excited to announce that Omnia has generously funded Gnarly Neighbours to deliver 10 periods over two days of skateboarding sessions at our school.
To make the most of this opportunity, we have decided to run an an attendance competition for all classes and Home Groups. The 10 classes with the highest attendance, measured from this week through to the end of Week 8, will each receive a Gnarly Neighbours skateboarding session on either Tuesday 8 September or Wednesday 9 September (Week 9).
This initiative has created some excitement, while also recognising and reinforcing the importance of regular school attendance across our school community.
