Father's Day Stall
Book Week - Monday 24 August
To kick off our 2026 Book Week celebrations, Seymour College welcomed Kylie and Kim from the CFA as our first Mystery Readers in the library, reading one of the CBCA winners, The Emperors Egg by Rae Tan.
We started our 2026 Book Week musical performances with a dance party!
Huge thank you to @phatcontrolla for giving up your time to play a set for our students!
Glen also ran a session this afternoon for some of our students teaching them how to make tracks!
Book Week - Tuesday 25 August
For our second Mystery Reader for Book Week 2026, Seymour College welcomed First Constable Ashley Wisken from the Seymour Police Station who read the picture book “Bob and Dob” by Sean E Avery.
The Seymour College Ensemble performed in the library today to help celebrate the Book Week theme “Symphony of Stories”. What a great performance!!
Book Week - Wednesday 26 August
Our third Mystery Reader for Book Week 2026 was our amazing science teacher Ms Gao, reading the book “Dear Broccoli” by Cate James.
Our very own Mr. Laing performed some Sing-Along Karaoke today as part of our Book Week 2026 celebration!
Book Week - Thursday 27 August
Our final Mystery Reader for Book Week 2026 was our favourite Richmond supporting Assistant Principal in Secondary, Mr. Rimes who read a book he claims was written about him, “Derek” by Anne Donaldson.
Our music performance today was from Luke in Year 8. Luke played his guitar during break in the Library. Thank you Luke!
Book Week Parade - Friday 28 August
For our final day of Book Week 2026, students dressed up as their favourite book characters!!
Unfortunately our Primary Choir was cancelled today due to illness, however Matt read two stories with musical accompaniment from Roger Manderson.
AFL Max Centre
On Wednesday 26 August, students in Year 3/4 travelled to Melbourne to visit the AFL Max centre.
They played some fun games, did some rock climbing and worked together on football and team building activities!
Year 1/2 students have had a busy and exciting term of learning!
In Reading and Writing, we explored procedures. Students put their learning into action by making toasted sandwiches and then writing their own procedure, including a title, ingredients, equipment and clear steps.
In Maths, we investigated capacity and mass through hands-on activities. Students estimated and tested how much water different containers could hold. For mass, they designed foil boats and predicted how many blocks their boat could hold before sinking.
It has been wonderful to see students learning through fun, practical experiences.

Museum Visit
On Tuesday 18 August our Year 3 and 4 students visited Melbourne Museum to explore the First Peoples exhibition and the Melbourne Story exhibition.
During the First Peoples exhibition, students explored stories, objects and displays that highlighted the living cultures, histories, and experiences of Victoria’s First Peoples.
They also visited the Melbourne Story exhibition to investigate how Melbourne has changed over time and learnt about the people, places and events that have shaped the city.

Attendance Competition
We are excited to announce that Omnia has generously funded Gnarly Neighbours to deliver 10 periods over two days of skateboarding sessions at our school.
To make the most of this opportunity, we have decided to run an an attendance competition for all classes and Home Groups. The 10 classes with the highest attendance, measured from this week through to the end of Week 8, will each receive a Gnarly Neighbours skateboarding session on either Tuesday 8 September or Wednesday 9 September (Week 9).
This initiative has created some excitement, while also recognising and reinforcing the importance of regular school attendance across our school community.
Remember, Every Day Counts!
