Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers, 

Student-Led Conferences – Thursday 17 September (11:00 am - 6:00 pm)

Student-led conferences are meetings where students discuss and share their learning and progress with their parents. The purpose of student-led conferences is for students to be aware of their strengths and weaknesses, take personal responsibility for their learning and to celebrate and share their achievements with their parents. In preparing for student-led conferences, students see how their strengths, weaknesses and behaviours affect them as learners. This allows students to take more responsibility for and control over their achievement in school.

Student-led conference bookings can be made via Compass where you will see the booking link for your child as well as available timeslots. 

There will be no scheduled classes running on this day. We strongly encourage all students along with their parents / carers to attend. In Secondary, the conferences will run in the Learning Building and Science. In Primary and Special Education they will run in the student’s classroom. If you require assistance with booking, please contact the General Office.

Early Learning Centre for Seymour 2029

The Minister for Children recently announced that the Victorian Government will be delivering an Early Learning Victoria centre at our school. Opening in 2029, the new centre will be located at our Agriculture Campus on Delatite Road.  

It is one of the new centres that are part of the Victorian Government’s Best Start, Best Life reforms. It will help meet local demand and provide necessary kindergarten and childcare places for the community.

Early Learning Victoria Seymour (interim name) will provide quality education and care for children from 6 weeks of age to the commencement of primary school. It will offer long day care and integrated 3- and 4-Year-Old Kinder programs. The centre will also include dedicated space for maternal and child health and allied health services

I’m delighted that the school will be represented throughout the project and will play a key role in helping to guide the facility’s planning and design. This will help to ensure that the school’s interests are incorporated into all relevant decision-making.

Attendance Competition

We are excited to announce that Omnia has generously funded Gnarly Neighbours to deliver 10 periods over two days of skateboarding sessions at our school.

To make the most of this opportunity, we have decided to run an an attendance competition for all classes and Home Groups. The 10 classes with the highest attendance, measured through to the end of Week 8, will each receive a Gnarly Neighbours skateboarding session on either Tuesday 8 September or Wednesday 9 September (Week 9).

This initiative has created some excitement, while also recognising and reinforcing the importance of regular school attendance across our school community.
