What's On In 5/6

CAMP

Our 5/6 students had an amazing time at camp! They represented Whitehorse Primary with such respect, responsibility and enthusiasm throughout the entire experience. Camp provided students with opportunities to develop independence, teamwork and resilience, while learning new skills and building confidence. They also established new routines and strengthened friendships, creating plenty of memorable moments along the way.

A special highlight was our visit to Healesville Sanctuary, where students learnt about the incredible work being done to protect Australian wildlife. We were particularly interested in their sustainable programs, including the creation of habitats and homes to support native animals. It was a wonderful addition to an already fantastic camp experience!

BUDDIES: PICTURE STORY BOOKS

Our 56s have been busy creating something very special for their buddies to celebrate Book Week — their very own picture story books!

Students worked through the entire publishing process, beginning with developing and drafting their characters, planning their stories and creating illustrations, before carefully publishing their finished books just like real authors and illustrators. There was plenty of creativity, collaboration and attention to detail along the way.

The best part was seeing the smiles on our buddies' faces as they listened to their stories being read aloud. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our love of books while strengthening the special connections between our older and younger students.
