Welcome to all our returning families and a special welcome to all of the new families who have joined St John’s in 2025. I look forward to working with you as your Education in Faith Leader. This section of the newsletter will keep you informed of Masses, liturgies and sacraments that are happening at our school. It will also include some relevant reflections or information on the seasons and feast days of the Church year.
On Christmas Eve 2024, Pope Francis symbolically opened the Holy Door at St Peter’s Basilica, marking the start of the 2025 Jubilee Year.
Jubilee years happen every 25 years and are times of reconciliation and renewal. The theme of this Jubilee is Pilgrims of Hope.
‘This Year of Jubilee the universal Church calls us to embrace, and be renewed in, the hope of Christ—a hope that does not disappoint. We are embarking on a particular time of pilgrimage, and as the Holy Father has reminded us, Jesus, ‘is the destination of our pilgrimage’. He is both the way, and the path to be travelled.’ Archbishop Comensoli. Discover more by visiting the following website.
As we prepare for the year ahead let us continue to work in partnership for the precious students of St. John’s and in the words of Pope Francis…'I hope that during this Jubilee, we practice kindness as a form of love to connect with others'.
