Sports Update
Our school's outstanding cross country season concluded on the biggest stage in the final week of the holidays, with seven students proudly representing the Cobram AGS at the School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Valley Racing Club.
Competing against Victoria's best young distance runners, our students delivered an impressive series of performances, highlighted by Jas Brown, who claimed the 14 Boys 3km STATE TITLE! Producing a composed run in the tricky conditions, Jas crossed the line in first place to be crowned the 2026 SSV State Champion after manging a 4th place finish last year.
There was more success close behind, with Aiden Power producing a tremendous performance to finish fourth in the Under 12/13 Boys (Secondary) 3km event, narrowly missing a podium finish. A big shout out to Lucy Hemming who was battling sickness after arriving back from Samoa but she toughed it out to finish the course!
The remainder of the team also competed with determination and resilience, achieving the following results:
- Jas Brown – 1st, 14 Boys 3km (State Champion)
- Aiden Power – 4th, Under 12/13 Boys (Secondary) 3km
- Sam Brown– 16th, 16 Boys 5km
- Neve Macheda – 54th, 14 Girls 3km
- Jayden Huang – 66th, Under 12/13 Boys (Secondary) 3km
- Mitch Carr– 74th, Under 12/13 Boys (Secondary) 3km
- Lucy Hemming – 75th, 16 Girls 3km
Congratulations to all seven students on an exceptional achievement. To qualify for a state championship is a significant accomplishment in itself, and each competitor represented the school magnificently.
Lightning Strikes for 5/6 Boys Soccer Team
Our Year 5/6 Boys soccer team produced a superb display of skill, teamwork and determination to claim the Lightning Premiership title in Yarrawonga.
The boys were in outstanding form throughout the tournament, going undefeated and conceding just a single goal across the entire day. Their disciplined defence, composed passing and attacking flair proved too much for the opposition, culminating in a well-deserved premiership victory.
Our Year 5/6 Girls netball team also represented the school with enthusiasm and determination, recording a win and enjoying a fantastic day of competition.
Congratulations to all students on their efforts, and a special thank you to our Year 9/10 Sports Academy students, who did a wonderful job supporting and coaching our teams throughout the day.
