Book Week Fun

A visiting author, Parade, Sharing afternoon

Book week 2024 was a delightful celebration of Australian books and authors. We celebrated in our classrooms with a visiting author, our parade, a special sharing afternoon with all of the Grade One and Two students as well as looking at the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) Shortlisted Books in detail. We considered which book we connected to, and even tried to persuade our friends the books that should/shouldn't be selected as the winner in its category. We loved hearing from Cassy Polimeni as she shared her books with us. We learnt all about the Seed bank through her lovely picture story book. We all joined a frog choir as referenced in Cassy's book Ella and the amazing Frog Orchestra. There were many interesting frog facts and discussions afterwards.

The week ended with our Book Week Parade on Friday morning, celebrating some of our favourite books. Well done to all of the students and families on your amazing costumes. The effort put in this year was amazing! We concluded the day with a Grade One and Grade Two sharing afternoon. A lovely chance to mix between the grades and share about the books we love and the CBCA Shortlisted books. It was fun announcing the winner - the students who had chosen this book were particularly excited!

Gymnastics

We have had a wonderful experience doing gymnastics this term. The students have moved their bodies, challenged their limits, grown in strength and had fun along the way too! Thank you to all of our parent helpers that made gymnastics run smoothly and to those that came on the bus with us. This is a valuable part of our Physical Education program and your support is greatly appreciated. Here are some pictures of our happy students at the program.

CBL - Respect

As we head towards the end of the term we are bringing together all of our learning so far. We have looked at many different ways that we can respect ourselves, each other and the places that we live and learn. There is a special celebration of this coming, so stay tuned!
