Wonga Park has had a very busy couple of weeks!
Last Wednesday, children’s book author, Cassy Polimeni, came to visit us for an incursion all about the life of an author. She has written two books called The Garden at the End of the World and Ella’s Amazing Frog Orchestra. Within our own classes, we’ve been learning about the Global Seed Vault, which is what The Garden at the End of the World is based on. We are very lucky to have had her visit us at school for this exciting event. Some students participated in a writing workshop run by Cassy, which enhanced their story writing skills.
The 17th to the 23rd of August was Book Week! We loved seeing all the students dress up as their favourite book character as they showcased their costumes on the basketball court in our parade. All the costumes were incredible and we were really impressed by the huge amount of effort put into the costumes from families. At the Book Week assembly, we enjoyed listening to our Library Captains, Bronte and Amelia, talk about the winning children's books of the year. We were blown away by some of the dioramas that were created and brought into school. We would like to say a big thank you to those who made one. They are on display in our school library.
On Monday 26th of August, Wonga Park celebrated our Pyjama Day! Students came to school snuggled up in their PJs. In our Tribes session at the end of the day, everyone munched on popcorn while watching 3 episodes of Bluey. At the end of every episode, students recorded what they thought the message of the show was. Thank you to those students who brought a gold coin donation to school. That money is going towards our Grade Six Graduation at the end of the year.
