Grade 5 and 6

🎉 What’s Happening 🎉

Can you believe it? We're almost at the end of winter and Term 3 is wrapping up soon! The past three weeks have been absolutely packed with excitement. From the thrill of our athletics events to the magic of Book Week and the cozy comfort of Pyjama Day, we've had so much fun!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of activities that have kept us all on our toes. Our amazing students have been diving into the world of the new-look reading hour, getting creative with poetry, and mastering the tricky topics of algebra (where n = summer 😊). Whether they've been working on their own or teaming up with friends, they've tackled every challenge with enthusiasm and energy.

Keep up the great work, everyone! The end of Term 3 is in sight, but there’s still plenty more fun to come! 🌟

🏅 Athletics Day Highlights 🏅

What an absolutely fantastic day we had at our Athletics Day! The cheers were loud, and the energy was off the charts! 🌞

From the very first race, you could feel the excitement in the air. The sprints were lightning-fast, and the long jump saw some epic leaps that had everyone gasping in amazement. And let’s not forget the high jump – talk about the big leap! The determination on everyone’s faces was truly inspiring.

The field events were just as thrilling. The shot put had some powerful throws, and the discus flew through the air like a rocket.

Of course, no Athletics Day would be complete without some friendly competition between the houses. The chants and cheers echoed across the field, and it was awesome to see everyone supporting their teammates with such enthusiasm.

But it wasn’t just about winning – it was about having fun, trying your best, and celebrating each other’s achievements. Whether it was a big victory or just a personal best, every student gave it their all, and that’s what made the day so special.

By the end of the day, everyone was a bit tired but full of smiles and great memories. It was a day to remember, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year! 🎉🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

🛌 Pyjama Day Fundraiser Fun! 🎉

What a cozy, fun-filled day we had with our Grade 6 Pyjama Day fundraiser! Everyone showed up in their comfiest, fluffiest pyjamas, ready for a day of laughter, learning, and, of course, a little bit of fundraising magic!

Our amazing Grade 6 students took the lead, running the show with their awesome Tribes sessions. They had us all captivated with episodes of Bluey that were not only entertaining but also packed with important lessons about personal values. The way they tied these stories into meaningful discussions was just brilliant! 🌟

And let's not forget the snacks! As if watching Bluey in our pyjamas wasn’t sweet enough, we got to munch on some delicious popcorn while we watched. It was the perfect treat to go along with all the fun.

The energy in the room was fantastic – everyone was relaxed, engaged, and having a blast. The Grade 6 students did such a great job of leading the activities, and their hard work really paid off in making the day a huge success. Big shoutout to our awesome Grade 6s for making it happen! 🎬🍿💙

📚 Book Week Parade Fun! 🎉

Our Book Week parade was an absolute blast! The whole school, from students to teachers, transformed into characters straight out of our favourite books. Everywhere you looked, there were wizards, princesses, superheroes, and more, each outfit more creative and colourful than the last!

We kicked off the day with a lively assembly, where everyone had a chance to strut their stuff and show off their amazing costumes. The energy was electric as we all celebrated our shared love of reading. It was like stepping into a giant storybook!

To top it all off, we had a special guest, Cassy Polimeni, an actual author! She has written two books called 'The Garden At The End Of The World' and 'Ella's Amazing Frog Orchestra.' She shared some incredible insights about how authors come up with ideas for their stories, sparking imaginations all around the school. It was so inspiring to hear firsthand how our favourite tales come to life.

Book Week was a day full of creativity, fun, and a whole lot of bookish magic. We’re now excited to be celebrating our Book Fair all week - so come down and have a look at the gorgeous books on offer and buy a few! 📖✨

🍞 Father’s Day Breakfast Fun! ☕️

What a heartwarming morning we had at our Primary School Father’s Day breakfast! Dads and their kiddos came together to enjoy delicious toasties and steaming hot coffees and hot chocolates and juices – the perfect way to start the day. The smell of melted cheese and fresh coffee filled the air, and the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all!

But the fun didn’t stop at breakfast! We had a blast with a variety of games that brought out the competitive spirit in everyone. Whether it was a friendly game of toss or some light-hearted challenges, such as the paper plane flying competition, the dads and their kids made memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge thank you to Lauren Goodwin and all the staff who worked so hard to make this special morning happen. Your efforts brought joy to so many, and we appreciate everything you do! 🎉👨‍👧‍👦

Potato Olympics

What a spud-tacular day it was at the Grade 5 and 6 Potato Olympics! With half of our crew off showing their netball prowess at Vic Champs, the rest of us channeled our competitive spirit into an event like no other. Each student received their very own potato pal, which they lovingly decorated and gave a backstory—height, weight, and even girth were all documented in their potato bios.

The Olympics kicked off with the long jump, where our spuds soared (well, sort of) as students measured and crunched the numbers to see who came out on top. Golf was next, and let’s just say, aiming a potato into a container is harder than it sounds, but the kids nailed it with enthusiasm.

The diving event was a splash—literally! Potatoes were launched into tubs of water, and the students meticulously calculated the water displacement to crown the champion. And who knew potatoes could breakdance? Our final event had spuds spinning like tops, with students counting rotations and averaging them out to find the ultimate breakdancing potato.

The day was packed with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of potato love. Who needs a gold medal when you’ve got the title of Potato Olympics Champion?
