Library News

Mrs Heather Vassila

The library is a very busy meeting place, 2nd half lunch, each day of the school week.

Many children come to the library to read quietly, some come to read with friends.  Some children come for a quiet space to chill, others to use the computers or play chess.  It is lovely to hear the chatter and general buzz that happens each lunchtime.

It is at lunchtime that our library leaders become invaluable.  They are so helpful and very reliable, turning up each day of the week to help the teacher on duty.  Our leaders this year are Deker, Victoria, Annabeth, Jayden and Kester.

Leaders interact with children, help them on the computers, set up the drawing tables, return and borrow books, shelve, and generally keep the library tidy.  They also help me with the many varied jobs that need to be undertaken each week to ensure our library runs smoothly.

I am always so happy each year to welcome new year 6 students to be leaders.  They are invaluable to my being able to organise the library as I do, and I warmly welcome this year’s new leaders and hope they enjoy this year.
