Swimming Championships
Congratulations to our 23 students that represented our school at the Primary Conference 1 Swimming Championships on Monday the 2nd of March at Des Renford. The children did our school very proud! Congratulations to Chloe Hoiles who will go on to represent St Anthony's at the Sydney Conference. Thank you to all the parents who could attend on the day.
Here is what Cody and Frances from Year 6 had to say:
Frances:
Overall, it was a great experience. Even though it was very nerve-wracking, I had lots of fun in all my races. Although I didn't win, it was a thrilling and amazing race. I met a lot of new people and made even more friends along the way. The 50-metre freestyle, the 50-metre breaststroke, the 50-metre backstroke and the 50-metre relay were all great; I tried my best and I felt my best. All the teachers and carers were a great help and encouraged me to do my best. I saw many other great swimmers try their best and watched their hard work pay off. It was very fun and I enjoyed it very much.
Cody:
The Swimming Championships were super fun, nerve-wracking and such a good experience. If I could, I would want to do it 50 more times! Even though I did not come first, second, or third, I am still happy because I know I tried my best, as did all my other friends. The races I did were the 200m relay and the 50-metre freestyle. For the 50-metre freestyle, I came 4th and I was really happy. Zone was really well organised by our teachers and the Sydney Catholic Schools organisers. It felt like all that swimming has encouraged me to always do my best and at least try my hardest.
Cross Country
On Friday, 6th of March, selected students from Years 2 & 3 will have their trial at 8.15am. They will walk back to school that morning with Mr O'Malley. If student are successful they will have the opportunity to represent St Anthony's at the SCS Cross Country Championships.
Pathway Trials
Let's hear about some of the experiences of the children who got the opportunity to trial for representative pathways sports:
Scarlet and Eloise:
When we went to the Sydney Catholic Schools netball trials it was so much fun representing the school and showing our netball skills to the organisers. We played six games of netball and it was a great experience to play with other people from different schools. The team managers made it very fair to give us our preferred positions but to also make sure everyone got a fair amount of time on the court. Overall, we had a fantastic time and it was fun to learn to play with other people with different skills.
Chloe:
I had a great time at the soccer trials and had so much fun. The games were incredibly hard as there were so many great players amongst us. I had such a fun day and I would love to do it all over again.
Aria:
All the coaches were very supportive and kind; they also had students as referees. We had a total of four games through the whole session. We had a lot of fun with all the girls and made new friends and we even bumped into people we knew! Overall, we had a great time.
