Dear Families,
Lent
Last Wednesday we gathered as a whole school community to celebrate the beginning of Lent by attending Ash Wednesday Mass. Fr Bill encouraged us to be happy people by helping other people. Lent invites us to be people of faith, hope and compassion.
Building Project
It is a very exciting week with the building project finally beginning. The construction site will be set up with hoarding in place, junior learning spaces relocated and temporary toilets delivered by the end of the week. Thank you to the many parents who spent time today assisting with the move.
Clean Up Australia Day
Clean Up Australia Day is the nation’s largest annual community-based environmental event, held on the first Sunday of March (March 1, 2026) to clean up local parks, beaches and bushland. St Joseph's families are invited meet at Webster's Corner Beach at 10:00am to remove litter, reduce waste and protect the environment. Gloves and rubbish bags will be supplied.
Year 5/6 Camp
Students enjoyed three days of team building and physical challenges at Camp Rumbug in Foster. It was so good to see new friendships develop, experiences shared and memories made. Thank you to Mr Philip Whelan, Miss Sarah Connolly and Mrs Megan Barber who accompanied our students. Many schools are no longer attending school camps but our recent camp reinforced the importance of learning in different environments to develop important personal and interpersonal skills.
Parish Celebrations
It was wonderful to see some of you yesterday at the celebration of 150 years of St Mary Star of the Sea Parish Church and 100 years of the Oblate Fathers servicing the Southern Peninsula.
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to McAuley house who won the 2026 Swimming Carnival. Congratulations to all the students who participated and earned points for their house. Thank you to all the parent who assisted on the day. It would not have been able to take place without your assistance.

The "Let's Talk" program is a preventative mental health initiative designed to break the stigma surrounding mental illness, encourage help-seeking behaviour, and foster supportive communities.
