Performing Arts – Term Overview

In Performing Arts, students participate in engaging music, dance and drama activities that support creativity, communication and collaboration. Through movement, voice and sound, students explore ways to express ideas, emotions and stories in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Performing Arts plays an important role in students’ overall development. Through active participation, students build confidenceresilience, and creative thinking skills, while learning to work collaboratively, listen carefully, and take safe risks. These experiences also support wellbeing by encouraging self-expression, joy, and a strong sense of belonging within the class community.

Lessons are aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and focus on exploring, creating and responding to music, dance and drama from a range of cultures, times and contexts.

  • Year 3/4 students will compare pieces of music to identify similarities and differences and begin creating their own music using instruments.

Year 5/6 students will learn about the elements of music and practise identifying and describing them in a range of pieces, including music from different cultures, times and contexts.
