Learning and Teaching News

Please see attached the Holiday Tutorial Schedule for Year 12 Students. Please note that these tutorials are optional for teachers to run and optional for students to attend. No new content is taught during these times, but rather additional valuable revision and exam preparation takes place.

If students wish to attend the tutorials, they are to let the relevant teacher know by the end of term so they can organise resources etc for the appropriate number of students.

Further to this, if they have not done so already, now is the time for Year 12 students to meet with their mentors and teachers to plan out their revision program and timetable leading into Trial Exams and Major Project Submissions. This is a busy time of year and history shows the earlier that a student can put a revision timetable in place, the better prepared and more confident they feel leading into trial exams. This timetable or revision program should balance all subjects with student wellbeing and leisure activities.

To assist with this, please see your teachers before the end of the term if you need past Trial Exams to complete over the break.

Finally, also a reminder to parents and students of the importance of attendance in classes. New concepts and content, as well as explicit modelling of responses occurs everyday at Marian in class, as such it is pivotal that students attend at every opportunity. If students are genuinely sick, they need to contact their teacher either whilst absent or when they are fully recovered to ensure missed classwork and concepts have been understood and completed.
