Dear Marian Catholic College Community,
With only one more week to go until the end of term, over the last two weeks, our students have been involved in a range of exciting activities. All of these activities either support or form part of their regular school learning and co-curricular program.
In Week 9, students won the latest round of the Bill Turner Girls Cup in Moama and will now progress to the next stage. Students assisted at the primary school diocesan Athletics carnival, attended a whole day music workshop run by Michael Dolce, raised funds via a cake stall and played an interhouse dodgeball game held for Marcellin Feast Day Celebrations on Friday. Students have also been participating in the Push Up Challenge to advocate for wellbeing and a socially fair and just world in homerooms and pastoral time.
Year 11 and 12, students attended presentations by Mrs Morris around post school and tertiary options, while Catholic and public school students in Year 6 visited Marian on Wednesday and Thursday for hands-on transition experiences in the classroom. Students attend this regular program as part of the overall enrolment and transition to Marian Catholic College for next year.
Processing and assessing the enrolment applications for Year 7 2027 are progressing well with interviews to attend the school occurring each week with either myself, Mrs Segrave or Mr Abdala. First round offers are on target to be sent to families in Week 2 of Term 3.
Over the school holiday period, D1 and D2 classrooms will be painted. These rooms have already had ceiling work and lighting upgrades completed during the Term 1 holidays.
As Year 12 students begin their preparations for major works and performance, Trial exams and then the HSC early term 4, let’s remember that regular and consistent application and study will always pay off in the long run for students.
Taking time to rest, to eat well, and to participate in regular physical activity can also really help with managing the final few months of school. The Department of Education NESA website has an excellent set of resources for Year 12.

On Friday June 26th, the school will attend a Mass to honour St Marcellin Champagnat, whose feast day falls in early June. During that time, the Executive Director of Catholic Education, Dr Sandra Harvey will visit Marian and attend the Mass.

‘Marcellin grew up in a small country town in France over 200 years ago. Called to serve as a priest and discovering the needs of young people in his community, he founded a school in his parish. Soon after, he established the Little Brothers of Mary, known today as the Marist Brothers.

Saint Marcellin was a man full of grace, who loved Jesus and served others, transforming the world with God’s love. His courage and strength of character continue to inspire us as we strive to do our best in our studies and to live out his vision of being “good Christians and good citizens.”
As we celebrate St Marcellin today, may we grow closer to Jesus and God’s Word, and be inspired into action for the needs of the world.’
