Child Safety
Sofia Vearing

Dear Parents and Guardians
In this issue of the newsletter I would like to bring your attention to a valuable resource providing practical tips and guidance around child safety in the digital world. Whilst computers, digital devices and the internet are valuable resources for student learning and communication, there are also risks associated with their use. Monivae College works in partnership with families and the wider community to protect students from types of online harm such as privacy risks, harmful contact, negative conduct and dangerous content. Policies relating to e-safety including the Social Media Policy and the Digital Technologies procedure are available on the website, providing a framework for keeping students safe in this space.
In addition, the e-Safety Commissioner website https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents is a fabulous access point for parents and students to seek help and manage a range of online safety issues. Tailored for students of all ages, the resources are up to date and written in language appropriate to facilitate family discussions.
Staff at Monivae are willing to help your student if they have concerns about any aspect of their safety online. Year Level Coordinators and the Director of Students have a wealth of experience dealing with these matters and I am also available to support parents, students and families.
Best wishes
Mrs Sofia Vearing
