French Poetry Competition Continues :)
Students are continuing to learn their French poem to recite to their class in Week 7. The poems are posted on Seesaw (see links below), and students have been given a poem sheet to take home to practise.
This is to encourage French language fluency and to develop confidence and skills in public speaking. Doing a recitation competition in primary school is a great way of preparing students for high school, where students often compete in such competitions and present orally in front of their peers.
Students should aim to memorise the poem, or they can read it from their books in week 7, during their French class.
Students who memorise the poem will be assessed, by their peers, with set criteria. The top 3 students from each class will compete in the final competition, in week 8 (Planning week). This competition will be judged by the specialist teachers and will decide the overall winners and placegetters (first, second and third) for each level.
Book prizes, stationery and certificates will be awarded in Term 4.
I encourage parents and students to embrace this activity with enthusiasm and acknowledgement for the challenge and reward it represents.
