Purple PLC Update

As we settle into the new school year, it has been wonderful to see students becoming more familiar with their classroom environments, routines, and expectations. Establishing strong daily structures is a key focus during this time, as predictable routines help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

 

A big part of this work has been supporting students to develop their self-regulation skills. Across the school, we are intentionally building opportunities for students to recognise how they are feeling and to access the supports they need. This includes a range of sensory tools and strategies that are available to students every day. Importantly, these supports are offered with unconditional access, meaning students can use them whenever they need, helping to build independence, confidence, and emotional awareness.

 

It has been fantastic to see students exploring and identifying the sensory supports that work best for them—whether that be movement breaks, the sensory room, quiet spaces, fidget tools, or other calming strategies. These approaches are helping to create classrooms where all students can engage in learning in ways that suit their individual needs.

 

We also had a wonderful time celebrating Harmony Day on Friday 20th March. This was a joyful and meaningful morning across the school, where students participated in activities that recognised and celebrated diversity, inclusion, and belonging with their families who could attend. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on what Harmony Day represents—respect for all cultures and the importance of creating a community where everyone feels valued and included.

 

We are looking forward to a positive and productive term ahead as students continue to grow in confidence, independence, and connection within our school community.

 

Our next assembly will be Term 2 Week 1 Friday 24th of April from 2:20pm in the Gym. We would love to see you there!
