Respectful Relationships

This term in Respectful Relationships, students have been learning about feelings, communication, and positive interactions with others. We have been exploring different emotions and how these can feel in our bodies. Students have been supported to recognise when feelings become strong and to practise simple ways to feel calm, such as taking slow breaths, using a calm space, listening to music, or asking for help.
Students continue to build on their communication skills across all learning areas. In Respectful Relationships, this has included using visuals, AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), Key Word Sign (Auslan) and simple language to express their needs, make choices and connect with others.
We have also been learning about being a good friend. Students have been practising taking turns, using kind words, including others, and understanding what is fair.
More recently, students have been learning how to repair relationships. We have been modelling and practising simple ways to say sorry, using calm voices and clear words.
It has been great to see students engaging with these activities and building confidence in expressing themselves and interacting with others in positive ways.
