The Arts

In Foundation, we used the story, Handa's Surprise to inform some art projects. We created fruit/vegetable bowl artworks using drawing, collage and painting. Students also created ceramic fruit bowls. These will be decorated in the future once they are fired in Ballarat.
In Junior classes, students created papier mache scultured animals. Autumn provided an opportunity for students to combine colour theory, painting, leaf rubbing and collage into seasonal artworks. Last week, students were given the opportunity to work with clay and learn how to build, blend and attach features.
Students in middle and senior classes participated in a series of drawing exercises to further develop drawing skills and engaging different parts of the brain. Examples of exercises included using alternate hands, time constraints, orientations and drawing approaches. Students also created observational drawings of leaves, created shape paintings using Autumnal colours and worked in small groups to create Andy Goldsworthy inspired environmental art. This week, students created ceramic bowls.
Students in Years 5/6, enjoyed a day at Ballarat Wildlife Park as a prize for winning the Central Highland's Water competition earlier this year.
