🍫🎟️ This fortnight, we have been busy crafting persuasive letters to the one and only Mr Willy Wonka! The children have worked incredibly hard to make their case, using formal letter writing conventions and high modality language to sound as convincing as possible. We are nearly ready to send them off... fingers crossed that our arguments are compelling enough to win that Golden Ticket!

✍️📚 On Monday, Ada, Carter, William, Charlie G, Clay and Eddie were selected to take part in a special author visit with Jodie Toering. They explored the world of figurative language, diving into metaphors and personification, and worked on choosing intentional language to create atmosphere and feeling in their writing. It was a fantastic opportunity, and we are looking forward to seeing these skills shine through in their future pieces.

🦒🎲 In Maths, we have been exploring the language of chance and probability. We had great fun deciding what was possible, impossible, certain, or unlikely. We agreed it was impossible that giraffes would take over the school oval, but not impossible that it might snow in Beaufort! We are revisiting our learning around Place Value, and Addition and Subtraction.

💧We are about to begin creating our dioramas for Integrated Studies. Working with Grade 4, we are creating some models around all things H2O. If you have a spare shoe box at home, or other materials your group might like to use, please bring this along to school. During this unit, we have explored drought and flood, the water cycle, plastics in our oceans, and desalination. Students have brought lots of prior knowledge to this unit, which has been great to hear!

🌟💛 Finally, we would like to extend a very warm thank you to Miss Gale, who completed her final placement with us last week. She was a wonderful addition to our classroom and did an incredible job with the class. We wish her all the very best as she heads into the next exciting chapter, she is going to make a fantastic teacher!
