This fortnight's Spotlight is on.... Stage 2

Year 3

This term, Year 3 has jumped headfirst into the world of information reports! Working in small groups, each team was assigned one of the world's seven continents. Our first mission was to research our continent, summarize the information, and highlight the most important facts.

From there, we leveled up our digital skills by creating our very first Google Slides posters, complete with vibrant pictures and text. We haven't stopped there, though! We are now busy creating detailed travel brochures about our continents. To do this, we’ve been learning how to use Canva, which has been a wonderful way to stretch our digital technology skills. It has been a challenging journey, but incredibly rewarding to see our hard work come to life!

Year 4

Page Turners

Tuesday mornings are a highlight for Year 4 as we visit the school library, which is my absolute favourite place to read. Our class has become so enthusiastic about books that our teacher recently increased our borrowing limit! Many of us also attend the Wednesday lunchtime library club with Ms. Spela, and several girls even choose to read during break times. Currently, I am enjoying When You Wish Upon a Star, which fits my favourite genre: fiction with relatable female characters and a touch of fantasy. I recently surveyed my classmates about their favourite reading spots, and they shared cozy locations like a comfy Stitch chair, the couch, Dad's big chair, and tucked into bed. One person even specifically chose 6:00pm on their mum’s bed! - Amelie

Fantastic Fractions!

In mathematics this term, Year 4 has been exploring the fascinating world of fractions. We have practiced splitting whole amounts into equal parts and utilizing a fraction wall to compare different fractions. Our absolute favourite activity was using Lego to design fraction quizzes for our Maths buddies, and some of these student-made challenges proved to be quite difficult! Additionally, we always look forward to playing math games during our rotation sessions, especially popular card games like 'Fraction War'. I also really enjoy going to Maths Minds as it is very challenging, often the ‘Question of the Week’ and we play fun competitive 99 Maths games. It has been a highly engaging and rewarding term of maths.  - Artem

Mother’s Day

The Mother’s Day celebration was a major highlight of this term, and it quickly became one of Year 4's absolute favourite days. We spent a lot of time proudly preparing for the event. In class, we painted portraits for the church, crafted beautiful cards, and carefully selected special gifts. We also worked hard practicing our song to perform during the liturgy. It was wonderful to welcome our mums to school to share such a memorable day with us. - Angeli
