7I Music

Students have been very busy creating their Graphic Musical Notation where they develop a soundscape to an Indigenous story. Students have enjoyed exploring percussion and creating an artwork that communicates what is to be played prior to performing their group work to the class.

7I and 7J Music Class

In Week 3 of Term 3, students in Mr Martin’s Music class created amazing musical instruments out of household items and recycled materials as part of the Musical Instrument Research Project.    Students developed an understanding of how sound is produced and what differentiates the main musical families such as Woodwind, Brass, Strings and Percussion. The students were so engaged and enjoyed making sound with their musical inventions! Well done Year 7’s.

Music Showcase

Parents and students attended the Subject Selection and Information Night on Tuesday 28th July where the Music subjects were on display in C7. There was a great interest in the Music subjects on offer, with Music staff on hand to answer all questions about possible Music pathways at LHC. The night was a huge success with many parents and students in attendance!

The VCE Band is busy preparing their next Group Performance for the upcoming Term 3 VCE Music Performance Soiree. The students have developed great collaborative and musical listening skills as they hone in on their parts to deliver a captivating series of performances. Term 3 VCE Music Soiree is on Thursday 10th September 6.30pm-8.30pm in the PAC. Hope to see you there!

Intermediate Concert Band

Congratulations to members of our Intermediate Concert Band, who performed at the Victorian Schools Music Festival on 13th August. Students played well together, demonstrating their parts to a high standard. Students were able to answer the adjudicators' questions in the workshop and make adjustments as requested. They were awarded a Silver for their efforts.​
