WHAT’S ON IN HANDS ON

Our DIY bird feeder project has been a wonderful success! Using repurposed materials, our students created bird feeders that are now attracting a variety of beautiful native birds to our school. We have been delighted to see colourful parrots, majestic cockatoos and cheerful galahs visiting throughout the day.  It has been exciting for students to observe the different bird species up close. This project has shown how simple, sustainable ideas can make a real difference. By giving new life to everyday materials, we have created a welcoming haven for local birdlife while encouraging environmental awareness and creativity.  We look forward to watching even more feathered visitors enjoy our bird feeders in the months ahead!

NEW JUMPERS

Students are stoked to be wearing their new Hands on Learning jumpers this winter! The warm, comfortable jumpers are helping students stay cosy while taking part in outdoor and practical activities, while also building a strong sense of pride and belonging within the program.  We would like to say a huge thank you to Safe Play Australia for their generous donation, which has allowed us to purchase these jumpers for our students. Your support is helping our students feel warm, comfortable and proud to be part of Hands on Learning.  The new jumpers are a great addition to the program, helping students to:

• Stay warm and comfortable while participating in outdoor and practical activities

• Feel supported and ready to participate throughout the colder months

• Build a stronger sense of belonging and pride in being part of Hands on Learning

• Proudly represent and promote the Hands on Learning Program within the wider school community

• Be easily identified by staff during program activities and excursions 

More than just keeping students warm, the jumpers are a great way for students to proudly represent Hands on Learning wherever their activities take them!  Thank you again for your generous support!

WELCOME TO OUR MINION

We would like to warmly welcome our newest member, Stuart, to the HoL Shed! Stuart is our very own Minion, creatively made from repurposed materials, including an old air tank and a tin can for his eye. With a splash of paint and plenty of imagination, these everyday items have been transformed into a fun and colourful character.  This project is another great example of how creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand. We hope Stuart brings a smile to everyone who visits the HoL Shed and we invite our school community to stop by and say hello!

OLD PIANO, NEW LIFE

We recently adopted an old, forgotten piano from the Music faculty and gave it a new home in the HoL shed. Since then, it’s brought immense joy to both students and staff, who’ve been using it to share their hidden musical talents. If you hear a familiar melody echoing from the shed, now you know where the magic is coming from!
