Help your child to read and write
Want to learn more about how your child is taught to read and spell at school?
At our school, we use Sounds-Write, a structured, evidence-informed phonics program that explicitly teaches children the skills they need to read and spell confidently.
We encourage parents and carers to learn more about the approach so you can support your child’s reading at home. Sounds-Write offers free online training for parents and carers, providing a practical introduction to how children learn to read and spell and how you can reinforce these skills at home.

Our Teaching & Learning Instructional Model
We are excited to share our refined Teaching and Learning Instructional Model, building on the strong practice already happening across CSPS.
The model, developed collaboratively by our staff provides a shared and consistent approach to teaching and learning, with a focus on explicit teaching, supported application and responding to students at their point of need. Teachers clearly explain and model learning, provide supported practice and gradually build student independence and mastery, using checks for undrstanding to identify when students need further support, practice or challenge.
Consistency for us doesn’t mean every classroom looks the same. It means students experience familiar language, expectations, routines and teaching practices across our school. Our refined model therefore provides a shared foundation for high-quality teaching while allowing teachers to respond to the individual needs of their students.
