– Building Stronger Learning for Every Student
This week, our staff continued their professional learning as part of our ongoing commitment to improving student outcomes. Teachers will be exploring how formative assessment, otherwise known more broadly as 'regular check-ins, observations and evidence of student learning ', can help them better understand each student’s progress and adapt their teaching to meet individual learning needs.
As part of this work, teachers will focus on scaffolded practice, an approach that supports students to build confidence and independence when learning new skills and concepts. Through modelling, guided practice, feedback and targeted support, teachers provide students with the right level of assistance before gradually reducing support as students become more confident. This approach aligns with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0) and evidence from AERO (Australian Education Research Organisation), which highlights the importance of explicit teaching, practice, feedback and opportunities for students to successfully apply their learning.
Through our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), teaching teams will identify targeted strategies to support students who need additional challenge or extra assistance. Teachers will work collaboratively to plan how these strategies will be implemented and how they will measure the impact on student learning.

This collaborative approach allows teachers to share successful practices, learn from one another and ensure that every student receives high-quality, adaptive teaching. By using evidence to guide decisions and adjusting teaching to meet student needs, we continue to create learning environments where every student is supported to grow, achieve and become increasingly independent learners.

Finally, don't forget to register for our upcoming Father's Day Breakfast on Friday 4th September. We hope to see lots of Dads and Grandpas, Pops, Granddads and special people.
