News from 3/4

This term, some students are celebrating their First Reconciliation (Penance) or First Eucharist (Communion). We have begun learning about the Eucharist and how we celebrate it. This includes learning about the different parts of the Mass. Students have been reading Bible stories as part of their exploration of the Liturgy of the Word.
In Maths in Year 3/4 we have started our unit on length and perimeter. Students are measuring and comparing lengths using millimetres, centimetres and metres. Here are a few suggestions for how you can help support this at home:
- Look for kilometre signs when driving,
- Discuss distances between places (eg how many kilometres to the Yarra Centre? to Grandma's house?
- Estimate distances and then check using the cars odometer.
- Talk about which units make the most sense (eg mm for tiny objects, cm for everday items, m for larger items/distances
We have almost finished our novel, Kenzuke's Kingdom and have just started planning our own narrative stories. We hope to have some to share with you soon.
