Clontarf Academy

It’s been a busy Term 3 with a strong focus on employment for our boys. In Week 3, Jameson Reid-McLeod, Marc Tedcastle and Shannon Tipiloura-Young spent the week in Melbourne as part of the Victorian Clontarf Regional Work Experience Week. 

The boys were teamed up with Clontarf partners TGI and CPB where they had exposure to what life after school may look like. It’s not just the work that the boys get to enjoy, it's footy at the MCG, eating out and experiencing what living in a share house looks like, and having to do tasks such as cooking and cleaning throughout the week. 

It wasn’t just in Melbourne that our boys were learning about different industries. Our boys were also lucky enough to be treated to worksite visits at the Ballarat Fire Station and CDC Buses, getting a good behind-the-scenes look at what is involved.

With the local footy season winding up, it was also great to see some of our boys being recognised for both school footy and state representation. Tyson Green and Charlie Clarke both won the Best Player awards for their respective school teams at the recent John James Medal. 

We had Archie McLeod, Kaylom Reid, Josey Wesley and Tyler Kelly all receive their 1st XVIII jumpers and Hunter Sisic and Charlie Clark acknowledged for their efforts in representing Victoria in the state sides for U13 and U14. A great effort from the boys.

We recently took a group of boys to Melbourne for the Clontarf Victorian State of Origin selection game. This game, held at Merv Hughes Oval, was a great chance for our boys to strut their stuff and ensure selection for the Clontarf State of Origin Carnival being held in Adelaide later this year. 

There was some great footy on display and great opportunity for leadership from our boys as they battled it out with Clontarf boys from across the state. We look forward to the final team being announced early next term.

Our morning training numbers have been strong again in the last few weeks, creating vibrant, fun sessions. It’s such a good way to start the day and a great routine to get into, setting the boys up perfectly to seize the remainder of the day.
